Vegetarian Lasgana-Great Vegetarian Recipes
When I think of some of the best vegetarian dishes I have had over the years, probably one of the most memorable ones was vegetable lasagna. What a simply wonderful dish, especially when prepared with fresh garden vegetables. Here are some tips when preparing this vegetarian recipe.
The first mistake I made with this particular vegetarian recipe was not considering the freshness of the produce involved. I thought, who really needs fresh vegetables, maybe I could even save a buck by using the frozen stuff. Never short change yourself when it comes to fresh garden vegetables.
What I hadn’t realized is the amount of water that is retained in frozen vegetables. Now mind you, it’s not that water is actually added to the vegetables, but just the natural “leaching” process when there is an extreme temperature change.
Well I guess I learned the hard way when it came to short-cutting the recipe with frozen vegetables. I thought I was being smart, and going to save time. But in reality I wasn’t being cost effective. The vegetarian lasagna dish wasn’t really that cheap, even with the frozen vegetables, and worse yet, ended up in the garbage.
Wow, these vegetarian dishes aren’t that easy to make I thought. Again I continued with my errors, as now I thought about using the bottled Italian sauce. Thinking I would save time, and a few dollars, I poured the sauce over the dish. Holy cow, what a natural disaster that turned out to be. The sauce was so spicy it burned evrybodys pallet.
Apparently the type of sauce I chose (without mentioning names of course) was the store name brand. And yes, it was naturally on sale. Well adding this jar sauce to the frozen vegetables just made matters worse. I think it was time to reopen my vegetarian recipes book.
So there you have it. Some useful ideas on how not to destroy vegetarian lasagna. It’s really is great to save some time, and sometimes money. But is it really worth it if your vegetarian dishes end up in the garbage? Don’t be like me. Cook fresh, and you won’t regret it.
