Fighting fat – profile of obese person

Fighting fat - obese personFor some people being around obese and overweight individuals can be quite a challenge, not mentioning those who are obese and overweight themselves. Obesity and excess body weight often is a result of “wrong” lifestyle choices and only in rare cases third party can be blamed in cause of excess body weight.

In society where not being “normal” is something others can hardly accept, big people have to face prejudices and nasty comments almost every day (if not every). The bigger you are the less “normal” you are, the harder you get “hit”. It’s sad but that’s how modern day world is built.

Everyone will agree that self-esteem and self-image of each of us hugely depends on how others see us and what they think about us and only small numbers are so strong and independent that they don’t care about opinions of others.

As you might guess, if you’re big or even huge you get additional dosage of negative attention where after some time even strongest ones break along with their disappearing confidence. Often bad mood and sadness is compensated with numbers of calorie rich products what creates never-ending circle.

Because of reasons above, obese people are ”locking” themselves up exposing to others only when necessary increasing the risk of different mental illnesses like depression for example. These conditions lead to even deeper closure, deeper sinking into themselves and larger amounts of food.

Relationships … Majority of obese people haven’t got normal or any relationships. This maybe is a stereotype but if you think about it more, it makes sense. In movies, fat girl is that who’s dreaming of a prince she can’t get; fat guy is the funniest one without clothes, fat lady is stuffing herself with cake after another failure.

Everything we see around is designed for normal – skinny, healthy, successful and sexy. The most desired bodies now have thin waste lines, trace amount of fat under the skin, flat bellies and thin, long legs. There is no place for fat people in modern world, what pushes them further from being “normal”.

Everyone wants to fit in but it’s hard to do that alone and with no motivation. Self motivation and support of others around can help you to deal with your weight. It’s easy to break and lose the sight of your goal but with support and help it is achievable.

What to do? Ask for help, seek support amongst your friends and loved ones. Set your goals. Easy achievable, realistic goals. Find a picture with yourself which you like and make it your ultimate goal. Start taking small steps now to get to your target later …
